2-14-22    THOUGHTS

God’s choosing of Israel and what that means to His people is an awesome study. It was surely physical at first and the Jews took a certain arrogant pride in that fact.  But the spiritual, promise, covenant side of the relationship was soon powerfully developed!   Rom 9:6-8     But it is not as though the word of God has failed. For they are not all Israel who are descended from Israel;   7  nor are they all children because they are Abraham’s descendants, but: "THROUGH ISAAC YOUR DESCENDANTS WILL BE NAMED."  8  That is, it is not the children of the flesh who are children of God, but the children of the promise are regarded as descendants.  Gal 6:16   And those who will walk by this rule, peace and mercy [be] upon them, and upon the Israel of God.  Gal 3:29   And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s descendants, heirs according to promise.

Deut 7:6    "For you are a holy people to the LORD your God; the LORD your God has chosen you to be a people for His own possession out of all the peoples who are on the face of the earth.

Rom 2:28-29    For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh:  29  But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.
Rom 4:12  and the father of circumcision to those who not only are of the circumcision, but who also follow in the steps of the faith of our father Abraham which he had while uncircumcised.
Jer 4:14  Wash your heart from evil, O Jerusalem, That you may be saved. How long will your wicked thoughts Lodge within you?
Matt 23:25-28    "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you clean the outside of the cup and of the dish, but inside they are full of robbery and self-indulgence.  26  "You blind Pharisee, first clean the inside of the cup and of the dish, so that the outside of it may become clean also.  27  "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs which on the outside appear beautiful, but inside they are full of dead men’s bones and all uncleanness.   28  "So you, too, outwardly appear righteous to men, but inwardly you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.  
Luke 17:21  nor will they say, ‘Look, here it is!’ or, ‘There it is!’ For behold, the kingdom of God is in your midst."
John 4:23  "But an hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers.
1Pet 3:4  but let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the imperishable quality of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is precious in the sight of God.
Rom 14:17   for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.
Php 3:3   for we are the true circumcision, who worship in the Spirit of God and glory in Christ Jesus and put no confidence in the flesh,

My Prayer:
Thank you for choosing us to be your people, your children.  Renew in us an intense desire to know Your mind through your Word.  Revive our spirits with a zeal that will lead us to true discipleship.    In the name of the one who saves us,     Amen
